Maya Credit

I crafted the end-to-end in-app experience of Maya’s credit line product. I led the design strategy, collaborated closely with product and risk teams, and delivered an intuitive interface that seamlessly integrated into the Maya ecosystem, helping users access flexible credit with confidence and ease.

Maya Credit is the next stage of the PayMaya Credit that allows users to borrow money anytime all within the app. The design is very transparent, mobile-first borrowing experience that demystified credit for new users through usability, simplicity, and trust.

The design was centered on building trust, clarity, and ease of use across the entire borrowing journey from activation to repayment.

The credit experience was seamlessly integrated into the Maya Wallet, allowing users to activate and use credit with just a few taps. Real-time balance visibility, smart transaction prompts, and subtle visual cues guided users on when they were using credit vs. available wallet funds. UI elements reinforced a sense of control and flexibility, while maintaining the look and feel of the broader Maya ecosystem.

The onboarding experience was designed to be frictionless and informative. Key UX decisions included progressive disclosure to explain how Maya Credit works, eligibility checks that run silently in the background, and contextual education built into the flow. A clear approval state with up-front credit limits and terms helped set expectations and reduce drop-off.

The repayment journey prioritized clarity and predictability. A visual repayment timeline, detailed breakdown of dues (interest, principal, due dates), and proactive reminders helped users stay on top of their obligations. The UI supported partial and full payments with immediate feedback, making repayment feel manageable rather than overwhelming.
